notary public is required to keep only one active sequential journal at a time of all acts performed as a notary public.(Government Code section 8206(a)(2))The notary journal, also referred to as a record or log book, is an extremely important account of all notarial events the notary has served in. While not required by law in the State of California, the notary journal should be permanently bound with sequentially numbered pages and a durable cover to help prevent tampering and to ensure long life.
